This time, I will summarize the incident where my ring-type wearable device "SOXAI RING 1" suddenly became unusable about a year after purchase.
We will also introduce the official response from SOXAI.

What is SOXAI RING?
I won't go into detail here, but to briefly introduce it, the "SOXAI RING" is a smart ring made in Japan that is a condition management device that can collect and analyze health data. The smartphone app is free to use, and it is a one-time purchase type with no subscription, which is also attractive.
The day it suddenly became unusable
That morning, when I got to work and confirmed that the battery in the ring was at 50%, I placed it on the charging stand and started charging. At this point, it was working fine and there were no particular issues with it heating up while charging.
I had a meeting after about 20 minutes of charging, so I stopped charging and went back to work with the ring still on. Then, around 7pm, I returned to my desk and put the ring back on the charging station.
Thirty minutes later, when I finished my work and tried to connect to the app, the battery was still at 30%. I could connect, but it wasn't charging.
I thought it was suspicious, so I unplugged and plugged in the charging cable and tried again. The LED lights up for a moment but then goes off and doesn't flash like normal. It's clear that the device isn't charging.
Just to be sure, I tried nine different combinations of cables and AC adapters (three types each) that I had on hand, but the results were the same.
I tried restarting it because I could communicate, but I needed a charging stand to restart it. But I couldn't charge it, so I ended up not being able to start it up and it became unusable.
This happened 15 months after I bought it...

I handled the ring itself with care, and was also mindful of the heat it generated when charging.
Since I had posted on X (formerly Twitter) when I purchased the product, I posted a photo of the problem as a record. Then I received a reply from the official SOXAI account saying, "Please contact us for details." When I explained the symptoms in the inquiry, they said, "We want to inspect the product, so we would like you to send it to us."
Furthermore, I was told that "if any defects are confirmed, we will replace it with a new one," so I sent it off with a little hope.
I just wanted to know the cause of the problem, so I contacted the official support and asked them to help me.

The cause was unexpected...
I packed the ring, cable, charging stand, box, and manual in the same condition as when I opened it and sent it off. Since the recipient was in the same city, I received an email with the inspection results two days after shipping.
Although the detailed cause was unknown, I was relieved to know that it was not my own mistake. I was able to exchange it for a new one.
Warranty period
To be honest, one of the reasons I didn't have high expectations was the warranty period . The official website states that the warranty is for one year from the date of purchase, but since 14 months had passed since the purchase, I thought, "Maybe it's not covered..."
Still, I was really grateful that they responded.
Any other similar cases?
I don't know the details, but I've seen some posts about X being unusable after about a year. There are accounts that compile such posts.
However, the symptoms of the problem vary, and I have the impression that there are few cases similar to mine. Some posts have received replies from the official site, but there are also a few cases where there is no progress report after that.
Given these circumstances, I wanted to carefully document what happened this time.
Support is quick!
What impressed me most this time was the speed of their response . All of my inquiries were answered within two days, and their explanations were clear and easy to understand. I was contacted two days after the item was sent for inspection, and the next day I received a notification that a new item had been shipped.
I also received the order email when I purchased the new product from the store, and the payment was processed as "0 yen." Since you need to contact us with the order number, you can contact us with this number from now on.
New products have arrived!
The new product arrived safely and the setup was completed. I logged in to the app with the same account, so all my previous data was properly transferred.

It is unclear why they responded even though the warranty period had expired, but it seems that in some situations they will replace the product with a new one .

Additional information about touch payment
It was announced that the company aims to incorporate a touch payment function in 2023, and there was excitement as a prototype had been completed.
However, an official announcement was made on May 17, 2025, and the implementation of touch payment was postponed .
This is very unfortunate, but there are likely many hardware and software challenges to overcome, so I will wait patiently and hope for future implementation.
